The long and winding road, or Walking with Warthogs.

Today we said goodbye to beautiful Rukungiri.
I think, after the kids' camps, we have each left a little bit of our hearts in that lush mountainous place. I suspect we'll all be sharing many stories around Christmas dinner tables!
David (the national director of Global Care Uganda) also quietly slipped away from Ishuro, to catch a bus east to be with his family. His wisdom, gentleness, big smile, and love for the GC projects will always be in my mind when I think of Global Care in Uganda.

The three (yes, THREE) staff who looked after eleven of us at Ishuro worked so hard to make sure that we had all we needed. They have no guests now until New Year so we hope that they will get a LITTLE free time!

Cases packed into the back of the coaster, we headed well over 3½ hours north, along roads where drivers and motorbikes like to position themselves wherever on the road will get them through the quickest - quite eye-popping to behold at times.
We passed amazing rock formations, tall termite mounds and innumerable lush plantations (with an inevitable traffic police stop!).
Saturday is, as in many places, the main day for weddings - we passed several places set out and ready to receive guests, got stuck behind a wedding car and spotted one bride. Not a bad tally!
We eventually arrived at Rwakobo Rock, an eco lodge where we had a late lunch and then 8 of us went on a nature walk. How amazing to get so close to zebra, warthogs, a dwarf mongoose and SO many beautiful birds - and who knew there was a bird called a 'bare faced go away'?!
Zaya created a fantastic 'David Attenborough' mini documentary as we walked along - you'd think the man himself was with us!
We returned as the sun set and a beautiful full moon rose.
Various people have commented on having showers with baboons outside their rooms - you know you're in Africa for sure!
It's been a long but beautiful day, another one FULL of memory-making moments.
What will tomorrow bring?
Who knows? But whatever it is, with this team, it'll be great.
